Windows Super Tips: Wallpaper

Previously, I have explained about how to <a href="http://windowssupertips.blogspot.com/2013/06/changing-windows-xp-desktop-wallpaper.html">change Windows XP desktop wallpaper slideshow based on the time of the day</a>. Now I will try to do the same procedure on Windows 7 and Windows 8. The procedure that we have applied to Windoes XP will not work on Windows 7 and Windows 8 because there is problem with the code that modifies the Regedit keys. There is actually an effective workaround to deal with this problem; however, when I use it to change the Windows 7's theme, the personalization window always appears. Although there is a batch file that can be used to hide that window automatically, I think that automatic showing and hiding of the personalization window is not cool at all. To overcome this problem, I have to use a third-party application called Winaero Theme Switcher. This small application can change Windows 7's theme and that of Windows 8 silently (i.e. without displaying Personalization window). By using this application and a small vbs file, I can finally apply the same procedure that I have applied to Windows XP to Windows 7 and Windows 8. If you are curious about it, you can perform the following steps.<br />

<li>Download Winaero Theme Switcher. You can get it from <a href="http://adf.ly/RC700">here</a>. This application is small and free.</li>
<li>Create 5 themes by using personalization window and save those themes respectively as Morning, Noon, Afternoon, Evening and Night. It doesn't matter how many wallpapers that you will use for each theme. Use as many wallpapers as you want. Just make sure that those pictures match the theme that contains them. This procedure is relatively easy to do. You should be able to figure it out with no trouble.</li>
<li>Now prepare your vbs file. Open Notepad and copy-paste the following code on it.</li>

<li>Use Task Scheduler to schedule the activation of this visual basic code. Right click on Task Scheduler Library, right click and choose Create New Task.... To modify the Task Scheduler's settings, refer to the following screenshots:</li>

There are many third-party applications that you can use to allow Windows XP to automatically change desktop wallpapers, thereby making it similar to Windows 7. However, in fact, you don't need those applications to enable wallpaper slideshow on Windows XP. By using vbscript, you can create a small visual basic program that changes desktop wallpapers automatically every certain seconds or minutes. You can even use your small program to let Windows alternate between different sets of wallpapers based on the time of the day. So in the morning you can have morning wallpaper slideshow, in the afternoon you have afternoon wallpaper slideshow, and so forth. This time-based wallpaper rotation is a feature that you can never find in any third-party applications (except Stardock Natural Desktop, which is not free). To create this small program and to use it, perform the following steps.<br />
<ol>
<li>Prepare 20 BMP images (must be BMP) consisting of 4 morning images, 4 midday images, 4 afternoon images, 4 evening images, and 4 night images. Use Google to collect those images. After you have successfully collected all necessary images, put them in the same folder.</li>
<li>Name (rename) the 4 morning images "morning1.bmp, morning2.bmp, morning3.bmp, and morning4.bmp." Use the same nomenclature for naming midday, afternoon, evening, and night images.</li>
<li>Open your Notepad. We will be making the needed vbscript program by using this versatile application.</li>
